Location, Landscape, and Basics of Germany The landscape of Germany has flat plains, rolling hills, sandy coasts, wide river valleys, and rugged mountain ranges. Germany was once blanketed with immense forests, but the nation chopped down a lot of the woodlands so they could build cities, industrial zones, and farms.
Germany has a similar climate to our Northwestern states. They have an Atlantic climate that give them: westerly winds, cool winds, moderate winters, high annual rainfall, and high humidity. Germany borders Denmark in the north, Austria and Switzerland to the south. The Netherland, Belgium, France, and Luxembourg to the west. To the east is the Czech Republic and Poland. Germany touches the coasts of the Baltic Sea to the northeast and the North Sea to the northwest. Germany’s capital, Berlin, has a population of 3.5 million people. Also it is one of the 16 states. Munich is has a population of 1.35 million people and is the third biggest city in Germany next to Berlin and Hamburg. Berlin, Germany’s capital is located at 52, 31 degrees N and 13, 24 degrees E.
